The 17the-Assessment Question exhibition took place on 10 & 11 April.  The SCD team attended, giving help and advice to awarding bodies looking for excellence in exam processing.

The most popular conversations revolved around migration to on screen marking and how to combine this with paper-based testing and multi-choice question paper scanning.

Tim Cammack explains, “This was a great networking event. We spoke to many Awarding Organisations who wanted to know how we apply best practice knowledge of exam delivery to help them improve security, integrity and quality - ultimately enhancing their reputation and delivering a much better service to their candidates.”

The key messages promoted by SCD at the conference were:

  1. On Screen Marking - easy to use and adopt.
  2. Paper based exam document services - Print / Logistics / Scan
  3. Multi-Choice Question form scanning and electronic marking
  4. Question banking and authoring

SCD held its first Quality Assessments Forum on 13th March at the Royal College of Physicians. The delegates, from Awarding Organisations, heard from Graham Hudson from GA Partnership, Jenni Peprell from the Royal Society for Public Health and Andy Brodrick from the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

The presentations centred around challenges facing those responsible for the delivery of exams; the changing external environment and expectations of candidates combined with internal issues of maintaining high levels of quality, paper integrity and security, logistics and staffing. Two case studies compared internal delivery with an outsourced solution and the benefits they now enjoyed working with SCD.

Tim Cammack, MD at SCD, explains what motivated SCD to hold the event. “We wanted to bring together decision makers from AOs and give them an opportunity to explore the challenges facing professional organisations who deliver examinations, whilst networking and sharing thoughts and ideas. We’re very pleased to have received extremely positive feedback from our delegates and there’s definitely an appetite for more of the same.”

The AO Forum 2019 is to be held on 14th May Woburn House, Tavistock Stock Square, London.  The event offers Awarding Organisations an invaluable opportunity to see how others are running their AO operations and hear the latest from the regulators. The AO-Forum is presented in collaboration with the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB).

Tim Cammack, MD at Secure & Confidential Documents will be attending the conference to answer your questions on how print and document management can improve exam delivery, including information on the transition from paper based to onscreen marking.

This year’s agenda includes:

Ofqual - An Update From The Regulator, Building International Markets For Your Business

Reflections On Grading & Markscheme-Based Assessments In Vocational Qualifications

EPAs - The Reality Twelve Months On

VTQ Research - Getting Technical
